Seniors Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley, Valley’s number 1 doubles team, won for the 14th time this season, while Gi Gi Engstrand and Hannah Parson, added key single wins, to propel the Valley Vikings past the Knights of Southwood 4-1.
Hodge and Bradley dominated Ariel Benner and Shila Judy 6-1, 6-0. The pair put their opponents away in quick fashion and remained undefeated in conference play at 7-0. Engstrand and Parson also won big by scores of 6-0, 6-1 (Engstrand) and 6-0, 6-0 (Parson). Valley picked up another point when Southwood forfeited the doubles two match. The walkover win for Kaitlin Neese and Haley Baker ran their record to 10-5 for the season. Valley’s Mackenzie Costello, playing in the position of number 1 singles, played well again, but came up short against Southwood’s Allison Steele.
Presently with an over-all record of 8-7 and a conference record of 3-4, Valley now must prepare for a visit from power Northfield this Monday on Senior Night. Come out and get a glimpse of Viking tennis as the girls attempt to add another win as the regular season concludes.
