Last night the Viking Track team traveled to CMA. The boys had stiff competition with CMA. Our sprinters grabbed third and fourth in both 100 and 200 behind CMA’s 1,2. Alek Mikel was barely beat out for a first in the 400 with a time of 55.27. Top honors going to CMA at 55.14. Matthew Howes ran a personal PR of 4:57 in the mile to place second behind a strong Caston distance program. Boys have been constant all year in earning points in field events. Dawson Perkins took first in High Jump clearing 5’8″ followed by Justin Peconga with a second. Wade Melanson claimed first in Shot Put with a throw of 42-2 Jon Humes not far behind with a third place finish. Boys also took first and second in shot with Brant Alber taking first at 107.5 and Brant Norris at 101.10.
The girls team were fighting through injuries, but still had a strong showing in the 400 with Sophie Bussard taking second with a 1:05.76. Gabby Olson claimed third place in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. Olivia Smith took top honors in High Jump with a jump of 4’6″. Sidney Wagner jumped to a third in long jump with a 13’8″ and Taylor Biddle also grabbed a third in Shot.
