The Lady Viking bats started early and did not let up, beating Plymouth 15-0 Friday night. The Vikings scored four in the first, 3 of those coming on a Brayden Baney double. The Lady Vikings added another four in the 2nd inning.. An additional 6 runs were scored in the 3rd including a two run double by Alex Gomez. Kirstyn Yoder capped off the scoring with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
The Lady Viking offense collected 16 hits and had 13 RBI. Amy Baca, Yoder and Gomez contributed 3 hits each, while Ally Betten and Baney added two each. Mayde Fear, Taylor Czichilski and Howard added one apiece. Baney led the Vikings with 4 RBI, while Gomez and Yoder added an additional 3 each.
Howard dominated in the circle, pitching a shutout while scattering three hits and striking out 5. Howard and the Viking defense eliminated all chances of a Plymouth rally, not allowing any of the 3 Pilgrim runners to advance past second base. This is the first game of the season in which the Viking defense did not commit an error.
