Valley traveled to Culver this evening to take on Culver Community School. They left 2 hours later on the short end of a 3-1 score. The Vikings and Cavs went back and forth for the first twenty minutes, until Valley broke on top on a goal by Christian Ramirez. During the final few minutes of the half, Valley had opportunities to extend the lead, but were unable to finish at the net and led 1-0 at intermission.
The second half was nip and tuck until about the 25 minute mark. Again, Valley missed a couple of shots on goal that could have put them up by 2 or even 3 goals, but couldn’t cash in. It was at this point Culver Community took advantage of Valley’s misfortune and knotted the game at 1-1. A few minutes later, Culver made it 2-1 on a nice cross, that Valley keeper Alexis Hernandez made a play on, but Culver pushed in the rebound to take the lead for good at 2-1. The Cavs closed out the scoring with an insurance goal and Valley lost for the third time this season, despite leading at the half.
For Valley, they host arch rival Rochester Wednesday at 5 pm.. The Zebras will come ready to play looking to avenge a 6-2 loss to the Vikings last season.
