The Valley girls found themselves in another tight match tonight as they played host to Northfield on Senior Night. Northfield escaped with a 3-2 win, dropping Valley to 3-5 in the conference and 8-8 over-all.

The Lady Vikings picked up their points in doubles. Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley extended their winning streak to 10, with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-0 win over Erin Whetstone and Lindsey Carter. Hodge/Bradley concluded their dream regular season by going undefeated in conference play (8-0) while finishing 15-1 over-all. Equally impressive were Haley Baker and Kaitlin Neese winning 6-1, 6-1 and completing their regular season at 11-5. Valley doubles finished a combined 27-5 and will certainly be a force in the upcoming sectional round of the state playoffs which begin Thursday for Tippecanoe Valley,
Singles didn’t fare quite as well. Mackenzie Costello and Hannah Parson, continue to gain much needed experience along with top level match time. Tonight they were beaten by a pair of veterans in straight sets. Singles 3 Gi Gi Engstrand lost a bitter three set match to senior Macie Sears 6-4, 4-6, 4-6. Engstrand battled back from a 4-1 hole in the third set, but came up a bit short. Engstrand displays a grit and competitiveness every time she takes the court. .

On the JV side, Chelsea Manns was the lone winner, as she concluded a fine JV season.

With the regular season now behind them, Valley will begin preparations tomorrow for first round sectional opponent Columbia City. The girls will make the short trip to Warsaw to play the Eagles Thursday at 5 PM.
