The Tippy Valley Soccer Team made school history this evening by capturing their first sectional playoff win with a 1-0 victory over Maconaquah. Viking senior Harrison Vining scored the only goal of the game 19 minutes into the contest and the Vikings kept the Braves from scoring for the last 60 minutes to preserve the win.
Maconaquah had a couple of good scoring opportunities, but freshman goalie Alexis Hernandez frustrated Maconaquah by making the necessary saves to keep Valley on top. The Vikings had multiple chances to extend their 1-0 lead, but Vining and Caleb Pentgen just missed converting shots into goals.
The Vikings now advance to the semi-final round of the sectional and will take on Fort Wayne Concordia, who was a 4-0 winner over Columbia City. The game will be played at 5:30 Wednesday at Maconaquah..
