The Tippecanoe Valley Soccer Team ventured out of conference to play annual foe Caston tonight at the Comets home field. They played their best game of the season, but fell short 1-0.
The Vikings controlled the first half and generated several scoring opportunities. Jorge Rosas, Arturo Dominguez and Jakob Jones along with Gerardo Fernandez defended well which provided Valley at least a half a dozen good looks to score. Brandon Montes, John Ruiz, Christian Ramirez and Caleb Petgen all came close, but couldn’t quite find the net.
As the second half began, play back and forth was even, until Caston scored the lone goal of the game with about 26 minutes to play. It was a tough loss for the Vikings, but the improved play shows some progress.
Next up for the Vikings is a trip to Plymouth this Saturday to take part in the Blueberry Festival. They will play Logansport at 10 AM and Mishawaka at 2 PM.
