Elkhart Memorial jumped out to an early lead and did not look back, defeating the Lady Vikings 9-3 Saturday afternoon. Macy Kirchenstien took the loss, throwing the complete game and scattering 13 hits to go with one strikeout. Elkhart Memorial took advantage of two 4-run innings, although only four of the nine runs were earned.
Valley’s offense put up single runs in the 3rd, 5th and 7th innings, with Mayde Fear crossing the plate twice, and Kirstyn Yoder once. Valley did gather nine hits, including a single and a double from Fear and 2 doubles from Ally Betten. Brayden Baney added a double and Amy Baca, Kayleena Agnew and Yoder all added singles. The Valley batters drew three walks on the day and only struck out once.
